Hana El-Sagini is an Egyptian multidisciplinary artist who works with Painting, Installation and Sculpture exploring themes of memory, trauma and loss through glorifying everyday stories, spaces and objects.

From childhood, Hana was brought up as a painter by her late father artist Magd El-Sagini in a home immersed with art by many generations of artists in her family. An upbringing that influenced her breadth and understanding of different materials and disciplines seen across her work.

Materiality and scale are important aspects she uses to create dialogues of opposites and tension within the work. The space where the work exists and bodies surrounding the work are elements she engages with aiming to add a question of significance in relationship to the human body. to add another layer to the work and to leave a memory for the spectator beyond listening and seeing.

Hana had multiple solo shows in Cairo and group shows across Europe. She has also won The Dean Collection Award in 2018. In 2022 she was commissioned the Floor Scenography for Fondation Beyeler’s 25th Anniversary, also in 2022, Hana won the public art work commission for Adly Mansour Metro Station in Cairo, the biggest station in the Middle East.

Hana holds an MFA from The Academy of Art & Design, University of Applied Science North Western, Basel, Switzerland and she currently lives and works in Dubai.
