Biography

Hana El-Sagini (b. 1980, Cairo) is an Egyptian artist working across sculpture, installation, and painting.

Working with ceramics, bronze casting, wood, and textiles, she builds forms drawn from the body, everyday objects, and lived spaces. Her work holds tension between memory, care, and intrusion, often with a subtle sense of humor. Scale is central, bringing the viewer into direct physical relation with the work.

Her 2024 solo exhibition, “Counting Fingers”, at 421 Arts Campus (Abu Dhabi), transformed clinical sterile spaces into an eerie environment through over 200 ceramic elements. In 2025, her work was featured at the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art (SAMoCA), Riyadh.

El-Sagini’s public and institutional commissions include a floor scenography for Fondation Beyeler’s 25th anniversary (2022) and a major public artwork for Adly Mansour Metro Station in Cairo. She received the Dean Collection Award in 2018, and her work is held in the collection of the Fenix Museum of Migration, Rotterdam.

She holds a Master of Arts from the Academy of Art and Design FHNW, Basel, and is an adjunct faculty member at Zayed University in Dubai, where she lives and works.
